The Steve Zappe Macintosh Page
I've been using Macs since 1989. I've used virtually every type of
computer (IBM mainframe, Univac, Cray, Vax, Sun SPARC, PeeCees with DOS
and Windoze 3.1, '95, '98, 2000, XP) - you name it, I've tried it. But
nothing satisfies like the Macintosh!
Here are some of the places I recommend for Mac info:
-
Apple Computer, Inc.
- Apple continues to foster envy, with ubiquitous iPod line, the radical iMac and MacBook, and gigaflop speeds
with
the Mac Pro. However
things
turn out for Apple, their web site is cool, their technology is
insanely great, and Mac OS X
is years
ahead of Windows XP. It's been a bumpy ride, but I'm holding on to my
stock (just compare it to Microsoft)!
This chart depicts Apple's recent stock performance (blue) versus
Microsoft (red) and the NASDAQ composite index (green). Click here for
a current Apple Stock Quote.
-
Santa Fe Macintosh User Group
- this is our official SFMUG web site, and you're welcome to come to
any of our meetings if you're in the area. If you're not in Santa Fe,
then find a Mac User Group
near you.
- Mac News - catch up on the latest breaking news at MacSurfer's Headline News, MacCentral Online, Mac Observer, Macintosh News Network, or Low End Mac.
- Online E-zines - check out Macworld, MacAddict, Mac Home Journal, Mac Design Online, and TidBITS.
- Shareware - the applications that give the Mac it's
personality. Get the latest from Apple Software
Updates, CNET's
Download.com, Shareware.com,
VersionTracker, or the
HyperArchive.
- Shopping - get your Mac
fix at the Apple Store, Small Dog Electronics, Deal-Mac, and the Macintosh User Group Store
(password required), or compare prices using NexTag, PriceGrabber, or Shopping.com.
- Other experts - link to these other pages for additional
information: MacInTouch, The Macintosh Resource Page, MacFixIt, and other resources.
- The Woz - Apple
co-founder and philanthropist Steve Wozniak has his own page, and
answers your burning questions via e-mail!
- RAM Prices - DealRam
has a great way to
search and sort to find the best deals on RAM.
- Emulators - if you're stuck using a PC at work, check
out some of the various Macintosh emulators at the Macintosh Emulation Station, or go
to individual pages from Emulators
Inc. (SoftMac 2000, Fusion), ARDI
(Executor), Christian Bauer
(Basilisk II), and vMac.
